RN at Yale workshop on Nonviolence in the ME Revolution

21/09/2012

Discussion about nonviolence and foreign intervention was the central theme of a seminar addressed by RN Chairman Chibli Mallat at a human rights workshop, “Nonviolence and the Spirit of the Middle East Revolution: Legal Challenges”, sponsored by the Schell Center for International Human Rights at Yale Law School on 6 September 2012. Discussions followed his presentation based on a background paper and a joint effort with fellow RN board member Prof. Jane Mansbridge  of Harvard’s Kennedy School, published as an op-ed by Jurist and centered on the use of automatic triggers to accelerate outside intervention in nonviolent revolutions to discourage the turn to violence.
