RN: Al Jamri receives CPJ International Press Freedom Award

RN congratulates advisory board member Mansoor al-Jamri, publisher and co-founder of leading independent Bahraini daily Al Wasat, who is to be honored in November with the Committee to Protect Journalists’ 2011 International Press Freedom Award.

One of four distinguished journalists worldwide selected for the award, al-Jamri is a noted publisher and human rights activist who has offered a sustained and courageous voice for moderation and against sectarianism for over a decade.  Since the beginning of the Pearl Revolution in February 2011, he and his colleagues have confronted multiple physical threats and attacks to facilities and staff as well as serious legal challenges to the continued operation of Al Wasat.
